Postdoctoral Researcher in Gene Delivery at University of Victoria

Seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a PhD degree for a 1-year project to develop a polymeric nanoparticle-based gene delivery vector toward commercialization. The position may be extended beyond 1 year pending funding. The candidates are expected to have experience in handling and characterization of genetic material, formulating genetic material within nanoparticles (lipid or polymer-based) and characterization of formulations . This would also include skills and experience in working with cell cultures, conducting and analyzing cell transfection experiments with gene delivery nanoparticles. Experience in conducting and interpreting in vivo experiments using various mouse models would also be an asset.

The successful applicant will carry out experiments based on a polymer micelle-based gene delivery technology developed in our lab for results in support of a patent application. This may include opportunities to work with British Columbia-based industrial leaders in biotechnology. Further development of intellectual property is anticipated throughout the project, which may result in additional patent applications and commercial potential.
